A Simple Thanks
You know I’ve been standing outside in the hot/cold/rain/snow for a half hour (or more). You’ve been there and understand there are better ways to spend a half hour.
You know that, at times, I need some extra time to myself. You give me that time.
You know based on my face that I am ready to go. And you get to it.
You know that when I ask for something, I feel better when you write it down. And you go ahead and write it down. Or you at least pretend to.
You know that if I’m sitting comfortably, despite the fact you’ve been standing for hours, I’d still prefer you not take a seat with me. You just keep on standing.
You know that if I ask for water it is because I am thirsty for water and not cheap. You give me that water and know there in no need to put a slice of sour fruit in it.
You care more about me than the guy over there. At least, that’s what it feels like.
You know that naturally after an entire plate of Chicken Fettucini Alfredo, I’m quite satisfied. You don’t get all annoyed when I turn down dessert.
To the waiters and waitresses of the world, the Good Ones: kudos!

They are few and far between. They are the ones I quickly make my “regulars”. They also happen to be the ones making mad tips from yours truly. Props to perfecting your trade.
